Contemporary fresco on interior doors

The variety of applications of the modern fresco allows you to create interesting interior design concepts. One of them is the possibility of covering the door with our linings. It can be a so-called "Hidden Door" that becomes one with the wall, or sliding doors or classic interior doors. We have prepared for you the necessary information, where we will discuss individual types of doors in terms of the use of cladding and the issue of their preparation for assembly.

The “Hidden Door”

The decision to use wall cladding on the door is best taken at the door selection stage. There are several proven aluminum door systems on the market (including    Piu DesignZeromur), where the frame remains hidden in the wall. This solution gives the impression of "passing by" the surface of the door in comparison to the wall surface, which is already covered with wallpaper or fresco. The door system "Non-frame", thanks to the aluminum frame around the wing of the door, allows finishing it with any decorative material. The wing surface of the door prepared in this way guarantees the fresco's protection at the edges and also enables its solid sticking thanks to the adhesive surface of the wing. If you choose this system, the end result is extremely spectacular - from a distance we have the impression that the wall with the door forms a single whole. The door is almost invisible.

Sliding doors PINKSTERN.com – Mrs. Antonina Ciużeńska

The main idea of the Pinkstern project - i.e. sliding doors based on the floorboard - was the need to create a product that in perfect symbiosis, harmonizes with the environment, especially with natural wooden floor covering. Deep brushing reveals wood grain, additional accenting of the tree rings by proper treatment makes the product seen more natural - thanks to which the wood enchants and gives a feeling of closeness with nature. That was the general idea ... But today we are also looking at the wall exhibition for some beautiful details, interesting motifs that correlate with our interests, desires or internal needs. Perfectly designed interior designs very often focus primarily on function. But why not play a little bolder with color, structure, image; why not allow yourself a little fantasy? Wall cladding "Ornante" exposed as a door motif, surrounded by a beautiful wooden frame made of the same wooden plank that was used on the floor.

After selecting the appropriate cladding pattern and its size, it will be placed on previously designed doors using a wrap board in the upper and lower part of the door. The 40 mm edge of the door is surrounded by veneered, laminated or metal slat, to additionally protect the edges of the cladding.

According to the investor's wishes, the doors on the inside and outside may look identical, but they do not have to. If there is a children's room behind the door - you can be tempted to use wallpaper with designs that will interest the children.

We create the door strictly out of its functional use, only adding artistic value to it. The door does not have to be boring, the door does not only have to visually separate the space, but thanks to the cooperation of Pinkstern and Ornante, the door can please the eye, provide deep sensations to the soul, emphasize the individual character of the interior and its owner.

Classic doors with a door frame

If for some reason you have not decided on a "hidden" door, and you just want to have the effect of the door blending into the wall - you can be tempted to tarnish the classic door wing at the carpenter’s workshop (or just have the gloss taken off from the door’s surface). The surface prepared in this way, combined with professional glue and the services of a trained assembly team, will guarantee the success of this type of solution, even when the door is not dedicated to covering it with decorative material. In this case, we still have to match the color of the frame to the color palette used on the fresco, which passes from the wall onto the door wing (i.e. it covers the wall and the door continuously).

This is an example of our implementation inside the project of Mrs. Katarzyny Weremczuk where we proposed several colors for the frame corresponding to the individual fresco design. Thanks to the fact that we watched the project from the very beginning, both in terms of the colors of the graphics and the assembly details, we were able to offer the customer an optimal solution. Among the several proposed colors, the choice was made to use deep green. The frame painted in this way emerges from the pattern's color palette from the wall. In our opinion, this strong frame accent emphasized the reception of the original design on the wall and the door, giving it character.

How to prepare a door for the installation of a contemporary fresco - by the eye of the assembly team – Maciej Kussy Fototapety Markuss

1. The door is best prepared at the production stage. If you decide to cover it with cladding when ordering, it is worth asking to attach the frame that will protect the wallpaper after installing it onto the door’s surface.

2. Lacquered doors should be matted with sandpaper before assembly to increase door adhesion.

3.We must use a special adhesive for assembly, and it should not be water-based adhesive.

4.In addition, the already installed cladding can be impregnated. This will increase its resistance to mechanical damage, thanks to which you will be able to enjoy the beautiful pattern for a longer time.

What does the assembly of a fresco (cladding) look like on a door?

Contemporary fresco is qualified as a heavy cladding, due to the layer of structural plaster, so it is mounted on both – the walls and on the door (including the frame of the door), taking into account its increased weight. Using wall cladding on the door, we recommend choosing our most durable product, i.e. Ornante Eterna - with an additional top layer of impregnation, which translates into greater resistance to abrasion. Each meter of the fresco is produced taking into account the individual design of the division into panels - it is no different in the case of a wall than with a door. Usually, a separate panel is prepared to stick onto the door itself, which is glued without joints and the pattern from the wall fits and flows continuously over the door. Ornante cladding is overlapped, and this type of installation, especially in the case of a wall with doors, requires experience.

We encourage you to use the services of fitters who are trained both in laying Ornante cladding and fresco wall covering, where the pattern also goes onto the door.

Ornante is customization - and thus experience in the individual approach of the architect for the wishes of the customer, countless implementations of special projects, the constant need to strive for the satisfaction of the users of our cladding. In the case of wall design with hidden doors, we deal with both: the design and framing of the pattern itself, as well as technical adjustment of the cladding to the requirements of such a complicated assembly. We arrange and coordinate the service for the customer between him and the - fitters, and also provide the necessary assembly products - adhesives and impregnates. Ornante products are suitable for many applications, and thanks to the flexibility of the production process, we can meet any challenge.
